Soluble Supports from PVA filament with single extruder

Title: Soluble Supports from PVA filament with single extruder. Watch on youtube: https://youtu.be/-W-UEwg2j0Q

3D printed supports may be hard to remove from main object. In my previous two videos I demonstrated manual multicolor 3D printing and now I am using same technique to print supports in soluble PVA. This means if I put object in water, supports will dissolve from the object. It is practical only with horizontal or near horizontal contact surfaces between object and support. In this video I am using PrimaSelect PVA+ material, it is expensive filament (50€/500g) but only contact layers has to be printed with this substance.

Used software and hardware:
Fusion360, PrusaSlicer, Prusa MK3 3D printer, PrimaSelect PVA+, Gembird PLA

Contents:
0:00 Introduction
2:40 Test 1 (horizontal surface,
custom supports)
10:05 Hook test (how fast will dissolve)
10:52 Test 2 (letters, horizontal contact,
custom supports)
16:29 Test 3 (curved surface under angle,
custom supports)
20:34 Test 4 (STL file, supports
generated by slicer)
26:35 Conclusions

My "to do" checklist for PrusaSlicer:

For custom supports:
Open PrusaSlicer:
- Load main STL
- Add Part, load second STL
- Print settings / Select Layer height
- Printer Settings:
- General / Extruders: 2
- Custom G-code: Tool change G code: M600
- Extruder 1: Retraction when tool is disabled: 1mm
- Extruder 2: Retraction when tool is disabled: 1mm
- Print Settings:
- Multiple Extruders / Enable Interface shells
- Plater:
- Change Filament (second extruder) to PrimaSelect PVA+
- Change Extruder from default to 1 and 2 (for loaded STL objects)
- Slice Now (to see Number of tool changes)
- Print Settings
- Multiple Extruders / Disable Wipe tower
Slice Now and preview the printing.

For automatic supports generated by PrusaSlicer:
- After opening PrusaSlicer:
- Load STL
- Print settings / Select Layer height
- Enable Supports
- Printer Settings:
- General / Extruders: 2
- Custom G-code: Tool change G code: M600
- Extruder 1: Retraction when tool is disabled: 1mm
- Extruder 2: Retraction when tool is disabled: 1mm
- Print Settings
- Support material: Reduce Overhang threshold to your minimum overhang angle (example 30 = 60° overhang angle)
- Support material: optional: change the interface layers to 2 or 1.
- Multiple extruders / disable Wipe tower
- Multiple extruders / Support material/raft interface extruder to 2.
- Platter:
- For Extruder 2 change filament to PrimaSelect PVA+
Slice Now and preview the printing.
